Wizz Air cancellation

Hi there,
LGW-LCA cancelled in January.
W6 only offering me LGW-LCA day before or LTN-LCA day after. No offer of alternative airline on same day as original flight.
If I opt for the LTN-LCA I assume I can expense them my transport to LTN, overnight hotel at LTN, dinner and breakfast?
I know the regulation says the airline must offer these but LCC's or either full service carriers ever really do.
I know I can insist on a re-route same day with another airline but honestly I cannot be bothered with the battle, having to phone up heaps etc.

I wouldn’t get too hung up about them not sorting a hotel for you. Airlines rarely do especially for something months in advance so it would be a case of arranging something yourself closer to the time and claiming back after the flight,

Of course the other option since the flight has been cancelled is to request a full refund.

Yes - I think in practice airline never arranges duty of care itself as obligated to in regulation. In practice it usually passenger book and pay transport, meals and hotel and claim back.
I expect W6 to reject my expense claim so expecting to MCOL this after.
My concern though is that W6 use defence in court that I have no entitlement under regulation to arrange these myself as requirement is purely on airline to arrange these.
Weak argument I suppose and in practice this not the case.

I rather doubt that "duty of care" covers when you are at home, especially when the schedule change in confirmed months in advance. (it would be different if you show up to the airport to find your flight cancelled or you are away and trying to get home)

You are on much stronger ground (for being reimbursed via MCOL) when booking yourself on a different airline on the original day of travel. I would just have a token argument or two with Wizzair and then book yourself onto BA or whoever you prefer...

The regulation is that they do owe me duty of care for cancelling my flight and only offering me an alternative the next day.
I am also not based in London nor near Luton/Gatwick.
I will now incur an additional night in the London/SE area because of this delay from them.
Good point regards BA however. I will how I feel. I just know from experience phoning up W6 is an absolute PITAH.

I just phoned W6 on your advice (to have token argument) and informed emphatically they do not and will not book on a different airline.
They also categorically said they CANNOT offer me anything same day.
I have made record of call, also sent an email to customer services giving them 2 weeks to comply.
If not I will have think.
BA is 71 one way that day. But considering they offering 3 flights per day LHR-LCA in January, have horrible feeling they will cancel too.
My W6 flight was 26, so do not want refund as alternatives all worse.

So, this happened in January. And you waited until September to ask this?
