Interesting article on Head for Points. Seems complimentary refreshments are back!

Flybe is back - and I was on the first flight! (headforpoints.com)

I saw their checkin counter and a dash-88 today at BHX and wondered what was going on!!!

It did send shivers down my spine thinking that AF/KL codeshares may return...

If this Twitter thread is to be believed, the COO of FlyBE rescued two stranded travellers at Schiphol who missed their flight due to the chaos that airport is experiencing - and personally paid to book them on a different airline.

The last post here was on April 29th and mentioned the mess at AMS airport. I just can't believe that mess is still going on now and in some ways appears to be worse. But, concerning Flybe, has anyone had any recent experiences during the summer months with this airline? I would consider booking them (GVA-BHX) but if they are anything like their previous version, which was completely toxic, there is no way I will book with them.

I did not know that they are doing bhx-gva direct, interesting route, in direct competition with EZ.

What did you find toxic about them in the past? Always found them to be decent, codeshare issues aside.

Awful, treating the passengers quite badly and collaring people for 50 pound charges for oversized hand baggage at the gate, but without the finesse of Ryanair. I always felt that was a money grab in the last days before bankruptcy. And then there's all the irrops, cancellations and endless delays that made them a major unreliable headache. I frankly thing they would have been sensible to rebrand it to something else.

They were always called "FlyMayBe" for a good reason. The name was toxic and to restart into shambles just reinforces this reputation.

But looking at the last couple of weeks they...seem to be doing OK?

I really had a pleasant flight on FlyBe from London to Belfast City on Tuesday.

Of course a light load of 29 passengers and two excellent F/As - Mitchell and Robbie helped my impression.
I knew about FlyBe and possibly all UK regional airlines' problems with being on time and I purposefully booked their first departures of the day, which I recommend in terms of regional flying in UK.

I like the new onboard service, which is complimentary tea/coffee/orange juice/water and a choice of savory and sweet biscuits.

If I have to fly in the morning, I won't hesitate to fly FlyBe again.

Flybe ceased trading - 28 January 2023

On 28 January 2023, the High Court appointed David Pike and Mike Pink as Joint Administrators of Flybe Limited (“Flybe”).
Flybe has now ceased trading and all flights from and to the UK operated by Flybe have been cancelled and will not be rescheduled.

Just got the news now, oddly from the German blog VFT.
Well, that didn't last long. It's a shame in a way and I wonder what all those regional parts of the UK are going to do now (Exeter and suchlike). I think Flybe was quite a lifeline for many places.
This time I think they should stay gone for good. If anything picks up from here, it should be a new company with a completely new brand.

I'm no Twitter fan, but some of the comments make for sobering reading:

It seems that my Twitter link doesn't show here, but it's easy enough to find.

If you can read French, these Tripadvisor reviews that I stumbled upon say it all. These, obviously, refer to Flybe Version 1 but they seem to be mostly from passengers who used the flights as part of an Air France codeshare.

Sad to see it die twice...

The codeshare flights were not AF's hour of glory, but the issues were mostly on AF's part to be honest (failure to issue vouchers etc).

Flybe served a niche market in many cases depended too much on business travel - I did my graduate training with a FTSE100 company and did all sorts of bizarre trips across the UK which Flybe made extremely easy compared to taking the train and having to connect through London.

Between 2015-2017 I regularly flew Newquay to Gatwick, Newquay to Norwich, Southampton to Manchester, Norwich to Manchester. Try doing that by train or Car in a hurry!
