Iceland Air - Itenerary & General IS Question

Two questions about an upcoming Iceland Trip:

1. My return flight is from KEF to JFK, at 8:15pm, on Sunday, July 26th. That evening, Iceland's schedule to NYC looks like:
- 8:15pm, KEF-JFK (my flight)
- 5:00pm, KEF-JFK
- 5:00pm, KEF-EWR

Does anyone have a sense of which flight they will keep based on knowledge of how they operate? At all costs, I want to avoid being forced to EWR vs JFK...

2. My family and I are doing the 10-day circuit around Iceland (clockwise from KEF). We will be on our own, in a rental car, most of the time. If restaurants aren't broadly open, what do we do? Are there Iceland's equivalent of 7-11s on the road where we get food, or are we going to need to go to a grocery store and make our own meals for 10 days...?

ICELAND - published 15.04.2020
1.Passengers are not allowed to enter Iceland until 15 May 2020.
This does not apply to nationals of EEA Member States and Switzerland.
This does not apply to passengers with a British passport.
This does not apply to passengers with a residence permit issued by a Schengen Member State.
This does not apply to:
- family members of nationals of EEA Member States, Switzerland and of British nationals;
- diplomats;
- health and care workers traveling on duty;
- humanitarian aid workers;
- international organizations personnel;
- passengers that require international protection;
- passengers traveling on family emergencies;
- members of armed forces traveling on duty.
2.Passengers listed in above exemptions who intent to travel through Iceland on their way to another Schengen Member State must have a written confirmation of their permission to enter the other Schengen Member State.
3.Returning nationals and residents of Iceland must undergo quarantine for 14 days.
Some or all restrictions may still be in place in July.
All around the world the situation changes day by day

Yeah. Wait it out. Right now, anyone entering Iceland has to quarantine for 14 days. I'm hoping to go in September so I'll see what happens over the summer.

Iceland will open up on 6/15, at least that is their plan as of today.

No quarantine if you pass the covid-19 test upon arrival in KEF.

However, chances are Iceland will be applying a renewed external Schengen/EU border ban meaning opening up on the 15th next month will apply only to EU/EEA/CH/UK residents.

The Schengen entry ban, introduced in mid March and this week once more extended to mid June, only applies to nationals from outside the EU/EEA/CH/UK.

Nationals of EU/EEA/CH/UK have always been able to enter Schengen from outside, throughout the entire period of the entry ban.

If and whether flights are operating to certain parts of the Schengen zone is, of course, another matter; but the current entry ban does not apply to EU/EEA/CH/UK nationals at all.

(This does not mean that any such passengers being admitted to the Schengen zone are not subject to further controls/requirements, such as self-isolation depending on the origin of their travel)
