Ryanair delayed flight - Compensation refused
I have unsuccessfully tried to request EC261 compensation from Ryanair for a delayed flight.
From a delay confirmation email I was sent by Ryanair:
and a EC261 compensation rejection email:
Is there any way to confirm the adverse weather mentioned? The weather was great at both destination and origin, and it seems at the previous flight of the operating aircraft as well, nor have I managed to find any Eurocontrol advisories for the day.
Furthermore, is a previous flight impact relevant information with regards to EC261?
Thanks!
From a delay confirmation email I was sent by Ryanair:
Going Out: Turin (TRN) to Barcelona El Prat (BCN) Flight FR9112 depart TRN on 08-07-2019 at 11:10 arrive BCN on 08-07-2019 at 12:40. Flight FR9112 from Turin to Barcelona arrived with a 5 hour(s) 59 minute(s) delay
The flights date that was referring to is 08-07-2019. Unfortunately as mentioned the other details are correct, the delay was resulting from adverse weather conditions, the operating aircraft was diverted in its previous sector to Barcelona Girona due to thunderstorms, making it arrive late to Turin as a result.
As this delay was unexpected we wish to inform you that no compensation is due under EU261/2004 as this was caused due to extraordinary circumstances beyond Ryanair's control.

As I can recall it most of Europe were hit by severe thunderstorms on 8-9 July. Massive delays out of FRA.
Yes, knock-on effects of weather diversions will exempt the carrier from paying compensation for delay for the subsequent flight.

If the agencies have already determined that your flight is not eligible for compensation, and therefore will not accept your case, I would take this as pretty solid evidence that you would be wasting your time to attempt to pursue a claim yourself.
And this one at least considers that it doesn't qualify for compensation:
