A Salutary Lesson [arrived at gate too late to board EasyJet flight]
List anybody else be tempted to try an alternative, beware!
We usually fly the family to Austria on BA from Gatwick to Salzburg, but the timings this year were inconvenient, so we thought we try easyJet to Ljubljana.
I bought 12 seats yesterday we arrived at Gatwick and had difficulty with our baggage because of the child seats and so we were delayed a bit. Four of us made it to the gate 30 minutes before departure but eight didn’t. The eight included the two families with young children and easyJet refused boarding. They tried to get us to take the bags with us but I refused and they still wouldn’t let the families on even though they were only two minutes late. As a consequence I had to rebook flights to Innsbruck at a cost of over Ł1000 and we had to drive five hours to Innsbruck to pick them up, then four hours back to southern Austria. I’ve tweeted my disgust and said, in future BA!

I'm really sorry to hear of your nightmare. I think you can have that experience on any airline if you miss their deadlines. Conformance at T5 is inflexible for mere mortals.
I'm guessing that the delay caused by offloading their bags was significant - shame that common sense can't prevail if they were all at the gate ready to board.

Easyjet made it harder for my grandchildren by getting them to check in buggy, rather than take it to gate and as car seats etc cannot be checked in until last bag has been dropped, we all had to wait for last person to arrive on delayed train, then dash to gate.
I guess delays in security were caused by school holiday traffic.
