TAP - Food poisoning?

Traveled from Lisbon - Newark on 4/10 (TP 201) and got awful food poisoning from inflight meals.
Just checking in in the off chance someone else had the same unfortunate luck. Not sure if this is something that needs to be reported to the airline??

Which meal did you eat specifically and did it taste off?

Not sure what your recourse is here, hard to prove it was related to the TP meal.
Hope you're better.

I travel with TAP very often and I always avoid eating the shrimp that usually comes in the salad, because when I did eat it I usually felt weird after.

You should contact TAP, if you contracted food poisoning you will not be the only one and there will be others if it was their catering that did it.

OTOH, beware that food poisoning can kick in in 6-30 hours after you eat so TAP may not be to blame.

You should report this to Elizabeth, NJ (where EWR is located) health authorities immediately. While most food poisoning occurs well after what people tend to blame for it, perhaps there were others on the flight.

In terms of recourse, keep track of your unreimbursed (by insurance) medical bills and consider a lawsuit if you suffered a great deal of expense. But, don't expect an air carrier to admit liability in a situation such as this.

Any updates on this? I always wonder how people know it's the food on the plane that caused the issues. Did the person not eat anything at all for a while before the flight? Could it not have been a viral stomach bug?

If TAP catering was the cause of this alleged food poisoning then there will be many others from the same flight and potentially many more flights affected.

Reporting to TAP is the only way to determine this however I think given the scale of airline catering there would have been more reports by now of this almost unheard of issue.
