Do we have to order in advance when flying Saga - or is it recommended to make sure you get your choice? I was looking at the same menu for the family. My wife asked about the fish (I know - never have fish on a plane) - and what type it was - but all it shows is Fish...

Get the fish if you are LEAVING from Iceland. It's normally been haddock in my experience - very good. And yes, you need to order this in advance to make sure you get your choice.

Are there more snacks available for Saga Class - or a pre-arrival meal? I have seen some comments that the food was lacking so wanted to see what else they had. Do they charge? Just not sure if we will be able to make it to the lounge prior to boarding since we are traveling with others not in Saga.

Thanks.

I have never been left hungry on an Icelandair flight. They do not serve a proper second meal on their US/Canada flights. You can however request anything from their Economy Class Buy on Board menu and they bring it to you free - sometimes better to do this early and keep til later rather than waiting and risk them running out.

I am looking for the same information. I can't find much online, though looking at this page:
The forum wont actually let me post a link, but you can search on "News- icelandair saga class meals pre order!" and find the page I am talking about
I see the exact same pictures associated with different names for meals.

Arctic Char -> Saga Fish
Chicken Harissa -> Saga Chicken
Organic Icelandic Lamb -> Saga Lamb
Glutein Free Meal -> Saga Nordic Tapas
Roasted Fillet of Beef -> Cold Beef Steak
Sugar Free Meal -> ???
etc.

It has been several years since I've flown on Icelandair, but in past experience in Business class, the food was quite good (as airline food goes). If you like lamb, that is a good choice. The cold beef is also good if it is something you would normally enjoy, i.e. cold sliced roast beef - it will be pink. And agree with others that the fish selection on Icelandair can also be good.

MileageAddict that looks decent to me, how did it taste? I'm not a fan of the fish being served in a pool of broth but I guess that's a regional thing.

It was good but not great. The shrimp portion was delicious, the fish was bland.

It was pretty decent. The shrimp and scallop courses were delicious. Sadly, the fish was bland but I still ate every crumb. This was on a 757-200 between KEF-IAD.

Hubby said chicken was good, so good that he ordered it again for his return meal.
