Does TAP have a new business class?

When I called to get seat assignments for BOS-LIS, the agent said, "This is a new business class", said the seats were lie flat, and put me in row 5. The flight is on a A330-200.

Seatguru says TAP's A330-200s are not lie flat and do not have a row 5 in business class, so I'm confused...

Yes... The BOS and JFK flights are full flat per planned, unless something changes last minute. The old ones don't have 5 rows.

They are getting 2 planes from Azul that have this configuration. Same for the new deliveries direct to TP

Cool!

Do you know where I can find a seat map?

New A330-200 seatmap

Here's what showing on my reservation. Pleasantly surprised to see I can now select seats online.

You can check the Azul a330-200 seat map, the planes are ex-Azul and the interiors are basically the same.

Seatguru Azul Airlines A330-200

On TP218 from BOS to LIS and there was an aircraft swap to their old A330. Really disappointed, and also surprised that they are already having operational issues on a 15 day old route!

Aircraft Swap back to old business on July 6 and 8 also, much harder to sleep. Perhaps they haven't rolled them out yet.

Lis-Bos on the 9th used an old one again. And that's even with TAP confirming on Twitter the morning of the flight that it would have the new lie-flat seats.

What is proper compensation for an aircraft swap? We had 2K, a lie-flat "throne" seat. Upon check-in, the plane was swapped and the seat was much worse, with an adjacent passenger to prevent aisle access.

No compensation.

TP does not charge different prices for the different types of business class, or for seats without direct aisle access.

You are never guaranteed a particular aircraft type.

The issue of compensation would only arise if you were not accommodated in the cabin class that you paid for.

This went from lie flat to something not lie flat. The whole point of paying the upcharge was for lie flat.

Pretty disappointed. Flying early 2018. Booked on lie flat, and got swapped to something not lie flat.

It's a little early for a definitive airplane allocation for early 2018...
