WSJ: Airbus Won't Engage In Talks With Ryanair

From The Wall Street Journal, September 8, 2010:

Airbus Won't Engage In Talks With Ryanair

LONDON (Dow Jones)--Airbus has refused to engage in talks with Ryanair Holdings PLC (RYA.DB) over the low-cost carrier buying aircraft.

The Irish-based airline said in the Financial Times it was keen to buy 300 aircraft, instead of paying a dividend to shareholders. However, Airbus poured cold water on Ryanair's hope of a deal by refusing to entertain negotiations.

Perhaps Airbus is balking at Ryanair's request to be paid for the privilege of flying Airbus' jets? :D

Don't laugh - it's probably true.

They may not be talking to Airbus, but they are indeed talking to Boeing.

All depends whether the two sides can agree on what one wants to buy and what the other can offer ^

I would suspect the "profits" from "winning" a deal with Ryanair would keep one in gruel and not much else

But with Airbus refusing to enter into negotiations, I suspect Boeing won't be in much of a mood to discount. The ultra-cheapo ways of the airline could cost them a pretty penny in the very item they need to be in business.

Wouldn't that be a shame....

You aren't suggesting that MO'L is trying to play one side off against the other to get a better price - I'm appalled
