Does anyone know if there is still a way to get that rate, or if it is gone for good?

Gone. Now they're doing 50% off standard rates. You might still be able to get a $9.99 car, but only if the standard rate is $20/day or less.

Hertz is also matching this special. The AAA rate most places actually works out less than $9.99 / day once you factor in the special. Moreover, Hertz only has a 2 day minimum.

Ummm... since this thread covers multiple rental companies, do you mind telling us what company was offering this deal? How did the 2 respondents magically know what the OP was talking about?

You must have been in a coma (no insult intended) for the last several years to have missed these Enterprise Commercials. They were heavily advertised but as previously said are gone.
