Air Indian
Blending the names of India's state-owned domestic and international carriers, Indian and Air-India, respectively, the government is planning to brand the merged entity as "Air Indian".
Here's the Link
I like the "Maharaja" as the logo. I would have preferred Indian's logo (Ashok Chakra) though. I have never liked Air India's Centaur logo.

I guess they want to be politically correct by not using the names of its predecessors.. like Air India or Indian Airlines..
But still, couldn't they have used something that sounds nicer?
Like INDIAN AIR, or INDIAN AIRWAYS or INDIAN AIRLINES , or how about just INDIA on its fuselage?

Air India will be the new name
Looks like someone at the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India reads FlyerTalk. "Air India" will be the new name of the merged entity. Looks like the Maharaja will be retained as the mascot, but the merged entity might sport a new logo. Here are some links. Link 1, Link 2 (link may contain pop-ups)

We all know AI and IC have more than 100 jets on order. They have just started receiving them. Lets hope the new AI will put these jets to good use, get rid of all those oldies and most importantly improve the on-time performance and cabin service.
