International Connection at Beijing - Customs Check?

Does anyone know if an international connection at PEK requires a customs check at PEK? For instance, on a flight from LAX-PEK-NRT, do you have to go through customs at PEK?

No you don't, there's an international transfer area, no needs to clear customs. If you really do, don't worry about it, the Chinese Customs are useless, you can take whatever into China. Maybe drugs.....no questions asked,no searching needed, no looking needed---they don't even look at you when you go through!! It's really sad!!! If you've been to Australia or New Zealand, then there's no need to worry about Chinese Customs at all.
