Best routing for PVG-MAA?

Seems like this routing will take a very long time. Any suggestions on best connection? Via HKG or SIN or KUL? Or via BOM or DEL?

I'd fly either with SQ via SIN or TG via BKK (with an overnight ).

Air India actually provides relatively convenient online connections at Bangkok for the Shanghai to Chennai route, with the PVG-BKK sector on AI metal and BKK-MAA on TG metal codeshared by AI.

Shortest elapsed time online connection is on Singapore Airlines via Singapore.

Would J on AI be much cheaper than SQ? Would obviously prefer SQ in J over AI but can only justify so much of a price premium

Air India has a special PVG-MAA business class roundtrip fare of 10892 Yuan (US$1300) available online at airindia.com. That is probably at least around 30-40% cheaper than anything Singapore Airlines is offering in Raffles Class.
