China Southern full loads

Be warned. I just flew China Southern CAN-AMS A380 and the flight was full.. no social distancing for 11hrs !!
Apparently according to an FA it was also going to be full on the return leg.
Not only that but the prices have been jacked up USD 1650 one way Shanghai to Heathrow

all the flights in and out of china are ridiculous at the moment because of the 5-1 policy... and of course they are going to be full load because there's a huge supply shortage of seats.

Yeah I wonder what is the 5-1 policy. Load factor increase is probably due to lesser flights?

The 5-1 policy is 1 airline, 1 country, 1 route, 1 flight and 1 week.

Try pricing out the reverse direction if you want to see some seriously high prices. As others have noted, demand significantly exceeds supply, and flights often sell out within an hour of being loaded into the system. Assuming you live in China, I'm surprised that you are surprised by this.

I thought the CAAC mandates only 70% loading on flights to China.

Yes, when you read it carefully it does specifically say flights "to China will be limited to 75%" and not "from China". Perhaps 75% only applies in one direction?

I looked into it, but the China Eastern pass was a better deal while it was on offer, and China Southern is sub optimal for those of us in Shanghai.
