PEK-PVG-SFO (AC-(Air China)->UA) Bags checked from PEK to SFO?

I have a flight from PEK to SFO via PVG. Will my bags be checked all the way from PEK to SFO or will I have to claim them in PVG and check them in again?
Thanks

That's a question for Air China, not UA

It may be possible now, but you need to check with Air China. If you need to know in advance you can call them with the ticket number.

shanghai is not a great airport for transit unless you fly with a skyteam airline, because you need to recheck your bags.

Is this China Airlines or Air China? There is no China Air

Given PEK, most likely Air China, and will move to that forum. Where folks are more likely to know CA's policies.

I don't know about PVG, but on recent flights HGH-PEK (CA) - PEK-SFO (UA) all on one ticket, the agent at HGH would not check my bag all the way through. I had to reclaim my bag at PEK and recheck with UA.

Just out of curiosity, were the nonstops prohibitively more expensive? If so, what about connections in ICN or TYO? As others have noted, PVG ensures that the connection process is inconvenient.

I will note that MU's new connection process is fairly well designed, except S1 (not all flights use S1, mind you) entails a remarkable amount of walking.

Thanks for all the replies.
For this flight I checked in at the Air China counter in Beijing.
Picked my bags up in Shanghai.
Went up to the 3rd floor and checked in at the United counter.

Ca $2700 one way Business.

Did you ask the agent to check your bags all the way through?
