Air China (CA) A350 LHR to PEK?
I was about to book a return from LHR to PEK in J on CA788 and CA855 for April next year. I've been monitoring the prices over the last week, and having checked today, it seems like they changed the plane from their A350 to A330s/777s.
Does anyone know anything about this, and if it's still worth going in J on their non-herringbone layout planes?

Only CA936/937 is guaranteed to have B777-300ER with first class. CA856/788 sometimes scheduled as A350 but most of the time is flown by A330.
Do not trust the scheduled A350 on LHR PEK service as most likely you will end up with A330. However, you may see A350 to this route in 2020 Summer schedule, as by then Air China would have most of its 10 A350 delivered. Also Air China ordered 20 more A350, so hopefully it won't be a problem from late 2020.

Cheers - below's a screenshot of the flight I was going to book, but didn't as by the time I went to book it had changed. Glad I didn't end up doing it tbh - would've been disappointed to end up in a 2-2-2 J!

Yes it is a pain in the rear. But it is said that the current 10 Air China's A350 is based in Shanghai and owned by Air China Southwest. Thus you see A350 on current PVG-LGW/MUC/FRA/MXP routes. To have PEK guaranteed to have A350 on any long haul routes you really need to wait for the fleet shuffle happening or when the new A350 arrives with the next batch of 20.
