Philippine Airlines SFO/LAX to Manila seating

I plan to take a SCUBA trip to Philippines next April. I was surprised to see that they still use flat angled (not horizontal) seats on this route according to the airline agent I spoke with. Anyone know if this is true or if they have plans to update to their latest fully horizontal seating at some point on this route?

They use 777-300ER on the LAX and SFO routes. The agent is correct that they are angled but only slightly so.

If you want a better product connect in TYO/ICN/TPE

I decided to go with PAL non-stop LAX-MNL. A slight angle to the seat can actually be nice since the plane tends to fly a bit nose up and I like my feet a bit lower than my head. Any recommendations for pair of seats? Mini-cabin vs larger front one?
