Sorry to hear that your travel plans have been disrupted and that your son can no longer travel.

If your flight tickets are flexible and cancellable then just approach the airline, you will get a refund according to the fare rules you agreed to at the time of purchase, subject to their terms and conditions that may also include admin fees.

If your flight tickets are not flexible and/or nonrefundable, then your easiest option is to do nothing. If you approach the airline you can possibly get the airport and government taxes back for the flights but the time you will probably spend doing this will exceed the value of the refund, especially as the airlines seem to be low cost carriers and will probably also levy their own admin fees to cover their time to do this.

If your son is no longer travelling and the reason for this is a risk covered by a travel insurance policy that was purchased or active before the reason for cancelling occurred you might be able to recover the cost of the flights from your insurer subject to any excess. You would need to contact your insurer.

Note that where I have said airline above, this assumes that the tickets were bought direct from the airline. If the tickets were purchased through a 3rd party website or agent, then you have to deal with the 3rd party or agent, not the airline. In this case there will be an extra layer of terms and conditions you agreed to on addition to those of the airline and probably also extra admin fees levied by the agent to make any change or cancellation.

Good luck.
