through check in hkg with 2 different tickets and with bags

I remember some years ago if your bags were not tci in hkg you could get the transit counters before immigration to pick them up and 're check them through for you. is that still the case ?

We are flying a low cost into hkg then flying out Swiss first

Unsure what time you will be arriving, but considering that you would still have to wait for LX transfer desk to open, and then for the retagging procedures to complete before they release you to the lounge, I would probably think its better/quicker to pass through hk immigration and pick the bag up yourself for re-check in..

Also, I am not sure how much love you will get from the Transfer Desk if you try. I know in SIN they will not issue a BP if you are connecting from a LCC. Your only choice there is to clear customs and re-check in.

In SIN you can tell them you arrived on whatever flight you want to though, they don't verify it. Wouldn't work with luggage, but carry on only you can certainly use the transfer desk if you play it smart. I've never tried HKG though without through checked luggage, so can't really advise the OP for there. I don't recall the transfer desks in HKG ever asking what flight I arrived on if I only had carry on luggage, only time it's came up is when they have to enter luggage tags from interlined bags.
