Indeed, no stamp in PEK - I fly via PEK 4-6 times per year and had never had my passport stamped (unless I decide to leave airport). Normal immigration (and therefore a stamp) in CTU - even for short transits.

The Transit Immigration Stamp on passport stopped around 2015. This particular stamp is a Hexagon stamp stating for transit only instead of Circle for Entry and Square for Exit. The transit channel in PEK T3E used to be manned by China Immigration, and during 2015/2016 it was moved back to Air China authority. The Transit Immigration stamp on passport stopped in the same time. My last Transit Immigration Stamp on my passport was on 7th December 2014.

Air China staff manning the Transit channel desks will stamp your boarding pass with Transit signs, but not passport any more. Then your boarding pass will get stamped again in security check point...
