China Southern upgrade changes

I've just return from a Bus class trip. I upgraded one of the legs from CDG to CAN into first class. I processed the upgrade in May and it was 48,000kms from Bus to FC. I'm just looking at a similar upgrade LAX-CAN from Bus to FC and that upgrade costs something like 122,000 km. I could hardly believe it, so I checked paris, and that has increased to a similar level. I am just flabbergasted...does anyone have any idea about why and when? I usually keep a close eye on these sorts of things but don't recall hearing even a whisper.

That is steep. I wonder if the onboard upgrades (pay by credit card) have similarly gone up in price?
