CA428 nearly crashes into hills departing HKG

Air China 428 Hong Kong to Chendu. Pilot turns left too early almost crashing into terrain around Tai O.

Just saw that on SCMP. Looks like a very close call and very unclear with the CA pilot deviated from the normal departure route to begin with.

I suspect the pilot wanted to make up time after a delay.

Many reasons, also may be some local mainlander bigwigs on board nervous enough for the delay, thus the comrade pilot had to make do as quickly as possible. I don't know about the longhauls, but in the mainland domestic routes uncertainty is always most elevate and i never am entirely confident.
