I'd expect (could be wrong) that at LAX and SYD they use QF lounges.

FJ has a new lounge of their own recently opened at LAX.

They have their own club in NAN.

Not sure 100% about SYD, but I think that is the QF lounge.

Check-in will direct you to the eligible lounge in each location.

I post this information, two links, so anyone that is considering a flight on Fiji Airways will not have to do all the searches I did on Flyertalk before getting a breakthrough.

The first link is an article announcing the new lounge at Bradley for business class passengers on Fiji and for some other smaller carriers:

The second link is a entitled trip report, but it is limited to just airport to airport, and therefore seems to belong here. It is excellent. The flight/report was in Feb 2014. I will try to update/add after our March trip, but I cannot compete with the quality/pictures/and thoroughness of this report! I am not familiar with the site it is posted on, so I can's speak to that.

Airport Lounges

You have the use of our Tabua Lounge at Nadi International Airport and selected affiliated lounges overseas whenever you are departing on an FJ designated international flight (flight numbers starting with "FJ"), subject to space availability and lounge operating hours. Affiliated lounges currently include the Qantas Lounge in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Auckland, Air New Zealand Lounge in Christchurch, Premium Plaza/Travelers Lounge in Hong Kong and International Lounge in Los Angeles.

Reservations Services Officer - Tabua Club

The 'International Lounge' at LAX before the recent remodel was the worst lounge in the building. Reports indicate that this hasn't changed, although it is likely improved.

The good news is that the new TBIT is much nicer now. My last trip through, we skipped the International Lounge completely and just ate in the main terminal area and had a great time. The terminal wasn't overly busy or crowded, and we didn't miss the lounge experience.

One thing I'd like to know - what transiting Fiji on this itinerary, you are placed in a 'transit lounge' if you are heading directly to Sydney instead of going through immigration into Fiji. What I don't know is if this area has access to the Tabua lounge for J passengers.

By transit lounge, they mean the departure lounge.

You get off the plane, walk along an open air walkway to the terminal. Follow the transit signs, they will take you to an screening point. Once you're done this you free to roam in the departures area (which is we're the lounges are).

Keep your expectations super low when entering the Tabua Lounge in NAN so not to be disappointed.

I fly through NAN quite often and am currently sat in the Tabua lounge (pronounced Tambua). They are currently doing a LOT of refurbishment at the airport and this lounge (I suspect) will be the last to be done. It is a bit gloomy but:

The rest of the airport is in a state of complete upheaval and the lounge is the only santuary from the chaos
It is air conditioned and cool
It has free wifi
At breakfast time is has toast etc
There is a shower but I have never used it

You will find some power sockets on the skirting board below the windows - Australian style sockets.

Alternatively - if you have time, then 200 yds from the terminal is a small hotel called Raffles Gateway. It is a 5 minute walk and the staff are happy for you to use the Gents beside the small pool to have a shower. They do a good bacon and egg breakfast and there is a nice pool to swim in. They are really good about people using them as a transit lounge and will even give you a towel if you want a shower.

If you are there for lunch/evening, then there is a good bar - try Fiji Gold and a local curry with dhal soup, you won't be disappointed.

They have a small minibus if you can't be bothered to walk back.

What do we (USA) have to do immigration wise in NAN, in SYD? Both?

Assuming your bags are through checked at NAN head for international transfer. You will need to show onward BP or they will check your name against a list of transit pax and arrange for an airline staff to give you your onward BP. Then through security to departures. Should take less than 2 minutes.

Normal immigration and customs upon arrival at SYD.

As a US citizen, you will need to apply for an ETA to get into Australia.

To enter Fiji as a US citizens, you'll get an immigration stamp when you enter the country, good for, I believe, 90 days, but you need not apply for anything beforehand if on vacation.

For our trip through NAN this year, we're staying in Fiji for a week on the beach on the return leg.
