Will I die on a TigerAir flight?
 

I know the reviews about it being cramped, and staff not being the friendliest. But I want to know if anybody has had an actual scary thing happen to them on the Tigerair planes? Like lots of turbulence, bad take off or landing, etc?
I'm a very nervous flyer. Even thinking about sitting on that plane makes my heart rate go up.
I just want to know if, physically, they'e safe.

Welcome to FT, missregangrace. I've not flown TigerAir, but turbulence is not something that is airline specific, nor does it matter what part of the plane you're in. Pilots generally try to avoid it because it's annoying, even to them, but not dangerous to the plane. I believe TigerAir recently placed a large order for new aircraft, though whether these are in service I do not know. You could check your particular flight, usually the website should tell you. Beyond this, there is very little we can tell you; we also don't have a crystal ball!

My last KA flight encountered so much turbulence I swear I was going to die.

Does anybody have any tips for nervous flyers?

Taking the tranquilizer of your choice can help. If you're the analytical type, reviewing the statistics which show commercial flying to be far safer than driving, no matter how you slice it, could be reassuring.

I permanently cured my nervous flyer syndrome by taking flight instruction. The little lumps & bumps you feel in even the smallest airliner are tiny compared to the way you can get thrown around in a light plane.

If I was a gambling man I'd wager you will survive.

I wouldn't suggest more than 1 or 2 drinks before the flight as some airlines aren't likely to let you board if you are visually intoxicated.

I'm a big fan of a little treat (sushi or some other food) a good drink and then a xanax as I walk on the plane.

I did fly from Singapore to Vietnam on tiger air and the flight was fine and the staff was fine too
My personal experience tells me you won't die

Just to remember that the most dangerous part of your journey is the trip to and from the airport.

I do remember on my HKT-SIN flight some years ago, after giving the pilot my passenger log book, he greeted me personally over the p.a. system and when the FA returned the book, he told her to tell me that I had more hours as a passenger than he did as a pilot :)

You will only die if the aircraft crashes.

Plenty of ways to die independent of a plane crash. Depends on the level of risk, of course. You could have a heart attack, stroke, aneuryism, choking incident, etc., someone could blow up the plane, stab you, strangle you, etc.

But yeah, I wouldn't worry about those things too much. Far more likely that you'll survive. ;)

OP, almost all of us on Flyertalk love to fly.

Flying an an airliner is extremely safe, safer than riding in a car the equivalent amount of time.
