NRT-PVG one-way will always be extremely expensive, but try china-....com for Spring Airlines. They fly from Ibaraki airport which is about an hour and a half from Tokyo station but they do provide a shuttle bus for a very small fee(500yen or $5).

Spring: http://www.china-sss.com/en (search Ibaraki to Shanghai)

Bus: http://www.ibaraki-airport.net/en/ac...bto_tokyo.html

+1. Spring's seats may well be dreadful, but their fares are quite cheap (e.g. 1/4 the price of NH/JL/MU), and they generally fulfill their basic objective.

I would use BA points also because I have to have a ton, but it's worth noting that BA's taxes on TYO-SHA ($100) are almost as much as Spring's lowest fares, all in ($130).
