Air China CA112 business class

Im looking into getting an award seat next week on CA112 HKG-PEK in business class.

Has anyone experienced the 777-200 CA112 service in business class? Is it the new product or an outdated & old business class seat?

Thanks in advance.

The seats aren't all that hot, and neither is the catering, but I'd dare say that both are on par with KA these days.

If CX suits your schedule, and you can confirm that they are using plane with flat seats on your date of travel, I would go with them... even knowing full well that there's a good chance you'll be bounced to KA or CA (because seems to love to cancel its PEK flights on light days).

Otherwise, I'd go for KA in Y, and save the extra points.

I'm operating under the assumption that you're using Asia Miles, which gives you a choice of all 3 carriers.

Well actually I was checking these flights with my UA miles. On CX unfortunately I dont have that many.

Is that really a good value considering that fares start at 900 CNY for eco or 2000 CNY for business (necessary for a 3 hour flight?) on that route?
Look for discounted HX business class tickets. "Interesting" airline, but long-haul seats on the wide bodies and cheap business class fares.

CA's old 777s have nice recliner seats; perfect for a day flight, in my opinion.

actually I was looking at awards, not paid travel.

also, I came across this article from 2012: http://www.wcarn.com/cache/news/20/20866.html

apparently AC retrofitted all of their 777-200?

anyways, just booked the flight with my UA miles, so Ill find out if those 7000 extra miles for C went to waste.

Check the seat map - if its is 2-2-2 (and likely is, as they've converted them all by now),

you will be pleasantly surprised like I was PEK-BKK. The seats was great.
