EVA Air & China-Airlines miles - usable with U.S.-based airlines?

Hi All,

I have some miles with Eva and China Airlines of Taiwan, and was wondering if any of those transfer or are usable with U.S.-based airlines?

Thanks.

It appears that Eva Air partners with United Airlines, see here:

China Airlines is a member of SkyTeam, which means miles can be redeemed for travel on any other member of the same alliance including Delta Airlines.

Buried in the fine print of EVA's membership guide is that while you can use your miles on UA, you are limited to two segments only. That means you have to find a non-stop/direct flight in order to use your miles.

how many is "some" miles?
They (BR and CI) are in general, not very useful, so I sell them, unofficially, when I can as I'm Toront-based. going rate is about 35K miles for ~$300 USD/CAD

or as I got lucky, traded in coupon connection 1-1 for 35K Avios instead, much much more useful for N.A. AA flights

Geez, that's stingy. I used CI mileage to redeem a four-segment flight on Delta a while back (before CI was in SkyTeam).

CI is in Skyteam. You use redeem CI miles on DL.

BR will join Star in June. You can use BR miles on UA now and US after June.

US is leaving Star later this year if things go smoothly for them, so that's likely to not to be an option soon after BR joins Star.
