Quick review CA970 SIN-PEK A330-300

Took CA for the first time on a redeye SIN-PEK last week, could not get seats on SQ so had to take CA.

L'occitane amenity kits handed out, along with slippers and duvet and FAs were nice but definitely lacking in English.

AVOD system was terrible, slow and unresponsive but front facing camera was nice to have

Chinese Hot Entree 2
Stir Fried Lamb with Shallots
Broccoli/Yellow Rice

Western Hot Entree
Slow Roasted Chicken Breast with Mushroom
Rissolee Potatoes/Sauteed Zucchini (Green and Yellow)

Seasonal Fresh Fruits

I was on the flight last week but was not given any amenity kit. How does it looks like? in a pouch/bag?

The amenity kit would have come in handy as my flight was diverted to CAN at 4am due to heavy fog in PEK and resumed at 8am and arrived in PEK at 10am. I missed my connecting flight but was put on another flight. The only extra thing I got out of it was a warm coconut bun wrapped in a golden foil served without tray or any beverages.

It was an ivory colored bag, just like a standard amenity kit. Toothbrush, hand lotion, comb etc etc inside. I didn't bother to look at it and just gave it to my SO.

I had the choice between this or SQ800 and based on reading this seems like I made the wrong choice... if nothing but for the duvet and more comfortable sleeping experience.

Y+ would always be better than Y I'd guess... not sure if CA has it on SIN-PEK though.

I tend to disagree in this particular case. Even though SQ's pitch is a bit tight, I always find that those 6 hours fly by (better food/IFE/service) than CA.

Does anyone happen to know if CA flies their latest A333s on the PEKSIN route (i.e. the second config below)?

I booked this redeye flight in J over the alternative on SQ because it seems that CA has fully flat seats on the A330-300 whereas SQ regional does not. Will see how I like it - previous flights on CA were solid.

Flown this flight before, and I appreciated the fully flat bed (similar to TK) - was able to sleep almost the entire flight, and my only complaint is the 2-2-2 configuration... I always miss the meals when it's an Air China flight because the food and wine are always below standards, per previous experiences... Soft product is also incomparable to SQ - but I would take the flat bed over SQ's A330 J seats...
