I'm not sure about UA, but AA stopped including this benefit on award bookings several years ago. But, like I said in response to your other post on this topic, if you do get a hotel voucher, you'll probably want to pass on it anyway (i.e. it won't be for the Hilton!).

Are the J seats on the 777's the same as on the 330's both -200 and 333 series?

Nope.

There are two types of seats on the 330's - angled flats (12J or 36J config) or full flats (30J config). 777 is neither one of those seats, but are full flat too.

Is there a way to tell what they are using on DXB PEK. Would hate to pick the wrong config. Flight leaves at 00:10

Expertflyer says this airline does not provide seat availability. Just indicates 330 not the type. The CA site was a bit more helpful looks like a 12J seat 332

JFK-PEK

Have all the 747's that used to be on the JFK-PEK route been replaced with the newer 777's? I'm going on this route late june, but on flightaware, it says they're operating with a 777-200.

Should be a 300ER, don't think the 200's have the legs there.

Am contemplating a J reward JFK-PEK-HKG vv.

Are there showers available in the J lounge in PEK?

Old 744's on the PEK-JFK route are now based in SFO (since beginning of April) and it's all 773's - on-time performance has vastly improved, especially the AM inbound flight that's immediately turned around for PEK.

In the event of MX, they (should) have spare ones (or parts needed to service it) based in PEK. Their 747 All Cargo are still flying this route but otherwise - very unlikely anyone will see one of the Combi on this route.

Oh okay, good! I went on their new 777's a few months ago from LAX in C. The seats are a little hard, but other than that, it's really great. Big change from the old angled ones.

Flightaware is still showing today's inbound #981 as 777-200's - ditto for Seatguru. With Chinese mainlander market in mind, some J/C pax probably won't mind the harder padding while others would ..... about it being too soft, LOL. With 9" personal AVOD in Y and lie-flats in C/J cabin with 12" or 15" monitor - it's easy to overlook the food ... Will not be surprised that more *A flyers will be taking another look instead of, even for other onward destination like HKG.

I'm pretty sure it's just a glitch now, they (CA) said that their JFK-PEK route was upgraded sometime in the end of a march. Haha, i'm used to asian food, so it doesn't really matter to me, if thats what you meant. :P

Just checked FlightAware again today, it shows up to be operated by their flagship 777-300er.
