And on another note, it's sad to see another 777 operator abandon 2-5-2 for 3-3-3...

As explained above, each seat will have their own IFE. The passengers will share the charging doc as one per two passengers.

Its still better than 10 seats, such as 3-4-3 as some airlines do to thier 777's.

Air China service

Or maybe the route not popular? (looks like only CA serving from PEK to LAX).
As opposed to PVG. It's really hard to find availability PVG to LAX

I can't seem to find any recent review on Air China First. Is it really not popular?
Anyone have recent F experience?

Thanks,

It doesn't mean it's not popular- it's just that the non-US carriers seem to release a lot more award space than their US counterparts. Lufthansa as well as many other European airlines release 9 award seats in business and coach on every short haul flight- compare that to carriers in the States which domestic low-tier award space is hard at best, and impossible at worst (DL).

Internationally, for example, AF's CDG-IAD/IAH often show 9 award seats in business class- it doesn't mean nobody wants them...

Just got off the Air China 777 PEK-LAX in F and had a great experience. Only 4 of 8 seats in F were occupied, the food was very good, the wine and service were excellent. It appears to be brand new equipment and very similar to the new UA 747 F seats. I slightly preferred the United seats for sleeping and access to power and headphone jacks, but mostly these are small differences.

As of 10th March 2012, I think they are having problem with the B777-300ER rotation?

Currently they are operating 5 frames of B77W.

PEK-FRA-PEK 1 frame
PEK-CDG-PEK 1-2 frames (as it's not daily atm)
PEK-LAX-PEK 2 frames

Have noticed CA983/984 LAX B77W were cancelled on 5th and 8th MAR and now CDG will be cancelled on 12th. I can't help but wonder if they are having problem with 1 frame. Or because of low-booking on those B77W flights?

The thing is, I'll be flying PEK-LAX on 19th MAR, hope they won't cancel my flight and put me on their vintage 747-400?

Any insiders?

have you been on their 747s? I ask because they look really good - very spacious with just 10 seats in B zone.

The 744's and A343's feature the new-ish lie-flat/flat bed product. If they swap it with a 772 though, you're left with the 15-year old "regional" recliners in both F and C.

Love your attitude out here.

My bad, haven't been on any Air China's plane yet.

But I heard Zone A on the 77W has even fewer seats.
8 spacious seats that is. So I still prefer their 77Ws over their 747s.

Air China 777-300ER First Class, experiences?

Hi All,

Hope you are well.

Debating on whether to choose United or Air China on an reward ticket from LAX-PEK.

The flight would be operated by a 777-300ER (Air China) and their new seat seems great, just don't know all too much about service, etc.

Not that United is much to write home about, but I feel like I leave a lot up to Air China with chance.

Has anyone flown in their First Class cabin on this aircraft and have experience with food, drink, amenity kit, service, duvet etc?

Would love to see photos if you have any!

Thanks,

fw

In spite of the fact that I live in China, I don't know anyone who's tried out that plane yet.

But, the n/s factor alone makes it a no brainer choice... well, if choice 2 was a really nice airline, you might have something to think about. The short of it is that I'm now willing to proclaim that CA, even on its lesser planes, is superior to UA. I could never have said this 10 years back, but things change quickly in China.

It is hit or miss. I have flown CA F TPAC and have been given PJs and on other flights where they were not offered.
