China Airlines: TPE-KIX-JFK v.v. from 29APR11

This probably deserves a new thread itself.

China Airlines to offer Osaka Kansai service to New York

China Airlines is to offer a new alternative 1-stop service to New York (JFK), citing Osaka Kansai (KIX) is a better option in replacing Anchorage (ANC) due to the time saved and amount of fuel reduced. The service is now dated to begin on 29APR11.

Schedule for this flight:

CI 0020 1640TPE - 2010KIX2150 - JFK2200 744 257
CI 0019 0210JFK - 0530+1KIX0800+1 - TPE0950 744 136

Refurbished 744 will be used on this route with 70J and 319Y.
Existing services to Osaka Kansai will be kept.
This service will replace the current Anchorage 1-stop service.

It's most likely going to be 21J seats filled in it's existing 14F area near the nose and similar 49J seats compare to the current 74C. Therefore, it could be quite cramp and... not flat seats (given how EVA Airways only fits 12 seats in the same area). J will also get an interior refurbish. Nothing changes for Y in terms of number of seats. However, both J and Y will feature the new AVOD.

Anchorage to say good bye to the last scheduled transpacific passenger service carrier.

Will DL code-share on this flight? Seems like an ideal Skyteam service.

Hopefully this works better than BR's KIX-LAX experiment.

Not sure, don't even think the flight is yet bookable.

An alternative layout to the new 744 is being speculated in removing 2 toilets and add the seats at where the toilet is behind the current J seats.
