scheduled flights at non-commercial terminals ?
is there existing (master) thread ?
i was not sure how to title thread curious about scheduled flights using either > general aviation airport / FBO / not commercial airport general aviation terminal / FBO at commercial airport Commuter Air Carrier (list) > cms.dot.gov/policy/aviation-policy/commuter-air-carriers-list cms.dot.gov/sites/dot.gov/files/docs/mission/office-policy/aviation-policy/3186/commuter-list-52017.pdf old > transportation.gov/sites/dot.gov/files/docs/Commuter%20Air%20Carrier%20%20List.pdf some (single-prop) examples > tradewindaviation.com/premiumScheduled.php uses general aviation hangar at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Westchester_County_Airportand http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teterboro_Airport capeair.com uses general aviation hangar at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Westchester_County_Airportand https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adiron...gional_Airport kenmoreair.com uses http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boeing_Field (examples that are not Commuter Air Carrier(s) >) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southern_Airways_Express http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memphis_International_Airport + http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Essential_Air_Service + Scheduled Charter & Public Charter ? > jetsuitex.com has some non commercial airports IIRC |
I haven't seen a master thread, but just finished some work for a client that involved reading up on specific details about the world's ~200 busiest passenger airports. I saw a handful of instances where airlines with commercial passenger service operated out of non-commercial terminals. Looks at the DOT list of commuter airlines, I saw some familiar names on there.
Teterboro Airport was too small for me to look at, but the MEM example is one I would have seen. I feel as if a few of the airports that had water runways might have fallen into this category, but looking at the cities that, off the top of my head, have seaplane terminals (Seattle, Victoria) I didn't spot any others. Lakeshore Express has stopped operating but was flying from the general aviation terminal at MDW. Lakeshore acted like a commercial carrier, but they may have technically been a charter airline. |
yeah, not sure how various FAA FAR Parts work >

UA154/155 "Island Hopper"
UA154/155 "Island Hopper" is a scheduled commercial service with a stop at KWA (Bucholz AAF Airport, Kwajalein Atoll). Definitely not a commercial airport.

available to civilians through Air Marshall Islands and United Airlines...Since the entire Kwajalein Island is a military base, non-military passengers on commercial flights are transported to and from the neighboring island of Ebeye, the civilian population center of Kwajalein Atoll. |
Flew several scheduled flights with these guys, and they used to operate out of the executive terminal at FLL

but for now > flytradewind.com/tradewind-shuttle/northeast/ "Shuttle flights depart from private charter FBO terminals" flytradewind.com/tradewind-shuttle/caribbean/ "available at San Juan is our “VIP meet and greet” service" capeair.com/flying_with_us/northeast_airports.html "Westchester County Airport. Cape Air is located in Hangar A" capeair also serves airports where they are the ONLY non-charter |
www.airchoiceone.com
-mainly flies around midwest, but does have non-stop service to chicago/ORD and MSP for cheap. |
Rectrix Aviation (operating as Rectrix Shuttle) operates out of ORH, HYA, and ACK. All are commercial airports, and they operate out of the commercial terminal, but they escort you to and from the tarmac through a side door (so no TSA, and you never enter the secure area of the terminal)
We'll see if this changes when they start the ORH-BWI service. |
