The cries of foul about the elimination of GCs from CC, along with the thinly-veiled self-interest and perpetuation of commercialism for its own sake, are certainly amusing, if nothing else :)

Cheers.

I am sorry if anything seemed "veiled", thinly or not, :) for I wanted to make it quite clear that I do consider it in my self-interest for CC to be full of many more ordinary FT'ers, fewer pro traders, and fewer non-participants who merely comment on other's offers and argue/fight amongst themselves. The more ordinary FT'ers are able to participate the better---whatever they have to offer and whatever they want, as long as they are civil and find a willing partner.

As for commercialism, that's a misreading on your part. People should remain free to offer or request free things. People should remain free to trade only miles, or only drink chits, or nothing but terminal maps, :) if that's what they want. I would just welcome those in addition who cannot afford to gift what they have, or cannot get what they want as a gift.

One thing I would absolutely not want "perpetuated" however is the ability of non-participants in an exchange to start and sustain uncivil arguments and fights in that thread.

Participation in CC is optional for those who Qualify. No-one is forcing any such member to visit that forum.

If some do not like the changes, they can give CC a miss - fully their choice. No-one is being forced out.

Yes of course, it goes without saying that we can give a miss to anything except taxes and death. :)

However, I would prefer if most FT'ers did not feel that "giving a miss" was the best relationship possible between them and CC.

It seems plain to me that the the spirit of FT we keep hearing so much about would be better served if many more of the ordinary FT'ers participated and benefited from it.
