Can we get rid of OMNI/PR?

Please?

Can't we just say that there are topics that are not appropriate nor relative to to a forum about frequent flying, miles, points, hotels, travel, etc.. and simply not allow them to be discussed here on FT?

Perhaps force people to visit a more appropriate venue rather then allowing it to take over so much of the attention/bandwidth here?

Wouldn't bother me to get rid of OMNI altogether. When I hit the "New Posts" button, I would much rather not see those total waste of time threads at all.

Another board I frequent did start a completely different political discussion board around one of the elections. I finally realized that the other day and checked it out...not many posts within the last 2 months.

OMNI/PR does have a lot of traffic and traffic = ad impressions. I'm sure not everyone who goes to PR is a premium member or a user of ad block.

OMNI or OMNI/PR? They're very different forums.

My vote would be to keep OMNI and OMNI/PR.

If you don't like them then don't visit these forums (fora).

Agreed. Why should people who don't like them or don't visit them speak for everyone else?

FT is just as much about community as it is about points and miles, despite what anyone else says.

I would actually be nice to see the 'New Posts' in a filtered manner. OMNI aside, I'd rather not see what is posted in the WN forum etc ... so a selection would be sweet.

Seriously, why don't you just not read OMNI/PR? There are plenty of areas in FT I do not visit, but I would not ask that they be closed.

I actually agree. Among other things, reading OMNI P/R opens up my mind to points which I'd not yet considered and helps broaden my viewpoints on many topics of interest.

If you don't like them, don't read them.

OMNI P/R generates too much traffic to shut down. Remember Flyer Talk is business.

Like an earlier poster,
it is the "new posts" button that I constantly use,
plus an RSS to MR Deals.

Is there a way to filter or IGNORE the entire OMNI/PR stuff?

I agree with others, that it should remain...

The entire point is, that while this is a site where the common interest is travel, miles, etc; this place is a community. In the forums that each of us frequent, there are usernames that you become familiar with and you start associating personalities.. so it becomes natural to enjoy talking about other topics with those people. If anything, that's why OMNI* are here, to keep the clutter out of the other forums.
