Racist remarks

Whilst I realise that part of the TOS requests us not to discuss moderator actions, a recent thread on the AA forum has shocked me enough to post in this forum.

The poster in question seemed quite happy to state that he thought all Germans were Nazi's and was quite happy to stand by that remark. He also stated that Latinos were lazy (strangely this post has not been deleted although the one about Germans has). Based on previous instances where posters have either been racist or homophobic which normally that has resulted in an immediate suspension, all that seems to have happened in the thread in question is that the poster has had most of his/her remarks removed and people protesting at his remarks also removed.

Could I therefore request that we have consistent rules and disciplinary action where appropriate as stated in the TOS. It seems some racist and homophobic comments seem to result in suspension where as other seem to get away with it - something which I find extremely offensive as this sort of behaviour in a civilised society should not be tolerated.

Whilst I realise you know the TOS inside out, here is a section I wish to reference:

There is no public list of prohibited words; if you believe a word is questionable, don't use it. If you find a questionable message in any of the forums, contact a moderator who will determine whether the message meets our objective of offering a friendly and flame-free community for frequent travelers. Using spaces, symbols, acronyms and other methods to express vulgarities while avoiding FlyerTalk's censors is still a violation.

Posting to FlyerTalk is a privilege, not a right.

Whilst I myself am not German, I still found his/her remarks highly offensive and against the pluralistic society that you have managed to cultivate on FlyerTalk.

For the record, the thread on the AA board can be found here:

I really hope some action will result in me posting this to this forum. In fact I am so annoyed I would even be prepared to be suspended for saying something about it.

As this is a question for Randy, we are closing this thread for him to review.

Thank you,
