Post Counts
 

I don't know if this is something that has been discussed already (can't get the search function to work) - but I was wondering if a lot of people are missing posts? Not that it's a super-big deal or anything, but I was wondering about it because pre-revamped FT, I had about 1500+ post & post-revamped FT, I had about 1000+ posts.

Just curious what happened & if anyone else is missing a significant number of posts in their post count?

I don't think I'm missing any posts, but I'm not 100% certain.

One thought... since some very lengthy threads have gone missing & can't be brought back, maybe posts to those threads are excluded from the count.

I lost about 1000 posts, but am not too worried about it. I'll get them back sooner or later :D

Actually, if history may be used as a guide, it would appear that Scott could easily make more than ten times that number of posts, ie well over 10,000 posts, in a whole month or two! :D

I also lost post counts in the conversion -- about 200 or so. I don't really care.

I openly confess to being envious to those with larger post counts than me.... I cant explain why, but I know that I just am. I try to make a nice number of posts per day to see if I can keep the gap as small as possible... :o

I think Im just pathetically addicted to FT... :eek:

What the hell... I like to think my envy is not meant in a bad way, and its certainly easier to post more every now and then than to work hard enough to kick the habit, right...? :D

I don't know about the individual post counts, but I do know that many actual posts and entire threads have gone missing after the conversion.

Perhaps the missing posts/threads explains why the counts on the main page dont line up with the "count" that appears in the address line of browser?

Yes noticed that too. The 750 post "Baht Pass" thread vanished forever at changeover, and I obviously had a lot of posts in there. The really long Hampton Inn one in Hilton Forum vanished. The 1000 post or whatever one in The Buzz re the booking interface tool also vanished. Those 3 come immediately to mind, and there must be about 3000 posts just in there.

I am not sure if those with posts in such threads 'lost' those posts, who knows? I guess we did, and in the big picture of things, it is no big deal IMHO. :D

C’est la vie (which means “That’s life” in French) is pronounced say la vee, so I said la vie!

In retrospect, I should have taken more care to separate these two distinct thoughts, one concerning the proper French translation, and the second earlier comment, concerning the apparent joke that I'd missed - and still do, sadly! :(

I'd made a factual statement and was kinda' baffled by the posters response. So I asked, "Really? I didn't think so. Perhaps I don't understand? How so?..."

Again, while I'd always thought and been told that I had a good sense of humor, perhaps I should be the one apologizing for my poor sense of humor? :)

Maybe I take/took Flyertalk too seriously? Am I missing something here? Thanks! :)

I feel your pain, Gaucho100K. Post Envy is, in many aspects, more psychologically devastating than it's more commonly known counterpart. Your Post total is hanging out there in all it's glory for the world to either admire or scorn. There's no hiding your Post total in your shorts and hoping folks think it bigger than it actually is. It is what it is and it takes a strong man to deal with this reality.

Do Kellogg’s, General Mills and Quaker Oats have Post Envy, or am I just merely milking this issue by spoon-feeding this information to everybody?

For example, C’est la vie is French for “That’s Life” where Life pertains to the cereal produced by General Mills.

As far as psychological devastation concerning Post Envy, Cholula is absolutely correct. Based on experimental clinical studies, experts believe that Post Envy is an early sign of the slow progression towards the development of a person into becoming a cereal killer.

By the way, I was bowled over when I discovered which corporate conglomerates owned which companies...

Nah. I'll just about bet it increased by one in the past couple of hours. ;)

Worse yet, a serial poster. Almost pathalogicial in nature. Needing the attention of the police (Randy) or the Press (the FT members). Posting without reason. Perhaps due to people not paying attention to them in real life.

As the police were investigating a murder scene, it was until the profiler arrived that they understood the meaning of the bizarre ritual.

The man was lying down in a tub full of milk and sliced bananas, it was obvious that this was the work of a

cereal killer

I found that story to be somewhat flaky, jfe. I do not believe there was a grain of truth to that.

However, in terms of exercising your sense of humor, it is nice to see that you are sowing your wild oats.

To get this thread back on track, I realize that I never responded to the actual topic of this thread:

I lost no posts as a result of the transition of FlyerTalk from the Ultimate Bulletin Board (UBB) software to the vBulletin bulletin board software.

Truth or fiction...it bowled me over!

I've never killed any cereal, but I've been pretty mean to some eggs and bacon.
