"Report Bad Post" Glitch
Someone made a gay bashing post on one of the forums today and I hit the "Report Bad Post" button. The post was so blatantly offensive that a moderator immediately removed it -- without letting it remain during discussions with other mods.
She was undoubtedly right to do so but it revealed a glitch in the system. The other mods never saw the offending post and the new system does not note that a post had been removed. Naturally, the other moderators had no idea of what the post was, saw another post on the same thread by the same poster, and confused that with the offending one. They said that the first post (the one not reported) while perhaps borderline could not be considered a violation of the TOS. This led to an exchange of posts between me, the mods, and each other until everyone understood what post was being referred to and what it contained. While everything worked out in the end, I can see where this can be a constant source of confusion and problems. Perhaps it can be worked out so that when a post is reported as bad, the report contains the actual post. |
As one of the moderators involved in this situation I totally agree with Sir Dovster. :)
This would be extremely helpful if it is possible with the new software. |
