Lets forget the former group ("the sour grapes" - they cant be placated) and deal with the latter, it might just be that like everything in life there is a trade-off.

The non-USA members are much less likely to stay at SPG properties and consequently place much less value in the assistance provided by the Lurker here, so its very convenient to take the moral high road.
Fortunately William is more temperate than I , seeing some of the stuff posted -I myself would just tell this board to get stuffed.

With no blackout dates at over 750 hotels and resorts in more than 80 countries, you can redeem Starpoints anytime, anywhere.

Plus, many of the foreign members travel to the US frequently.

But don't let facts get in the way of your little theory there http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif.

Or in other words 550+ hotels in the USA ( = 1 country or 70% of all SPG properties) amazing how one can use the same stat to appear to support ones point.

Randy has already indicated he is looking at this, and Chuck and I are cooperating with him in that.

That being said, in the spirit of building community as opposed to fighting at every turn, cblaisd (Chuck) and I have made some updates to the Coupon Connection FAQ, including adding a statement from Starwood regarding their program policies. Other programs are welcome to send mail to the moderators and we will include those as well.

Just as each loyalty program asks that you respect their rules, we hope that this will also help allow people to may more attention to those of this program.

While there will always be differences of opinion, I hope that perhaps people can learn in the future to address the issues and not the individuals.

An update: On The Coupon Connection, the work of the moderators in conjunction with at least one loyalty program has resulted in a mutual agreement to amend the (Un)Official FAQ regarding the rules of engagment within that forum. Members can refresh their understanding of how things should work by reviewing this FAQ which is posted at the top of the forum pages as an announcement.

That is Step One. Step Two is to complete the order of events and see how things might have been done different if at all. These are judgment calls folks and without the presense of zebras, there is really no 'instant replay.' All the hard work has been done by the Moderators and The Starwood Lurker which in this case represents (not offically, but certainly in spirit) all loyalty programs.

Thank you and future updates when they become available.
