time out for Guava

Randy,

I normally don't respond to childish behavior on the part of some FT posters because I feel it only encourages them. However, I feel this FTer in particular has gone too far and deserves a time out. Please see the following thread:

www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum5/HTML/012295.html

The ironic part of the thread is that Guava accuses another poster of violating TOS early on but then violates it by resorting to name calling later in the same thread.

If this poster can't play nice they don't deserve to play at all for a while, IMHO.

Thanks for your consideration.

I'm sorry, tcook052, you have no time-outs left.

Guava gets one free throw and the ball.

(Apologies to Chris Webber.)

Did you miss Rudi's post earlier? Thank you for bringing this to Randy's attention this totally lack of tact and continuous public circus.

For your effort, you just made an enemy today. Watch your back...

Ooooh. Guava threw the red flag and has asked for a review of a prior post.

If Guava is wrong, it'll actually cost him a timeout. If he's right, no timeout will be charged, and it'll be first down.

Waiting for the Canadians not to get it . . . http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Looks like you just made the case of whoever wants to have a case against you.

I am sorry gleff, I wish it wouldn't have come to this. But when you are attacked, you need to show your teeth and ready to defend yourself. This is true, even here. But more so because a few people decide to turn the unmoderated AC forum into the land of gangsters. In there, if you don't defend yourself, nobody will.

As a case against me, so be it. That person says he is a Consultant and for a consultant, reputation is everything. I have taken down the e-mail (AOL) as well. If he wants a fight, sure enough it's doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out who has more to lose. There is no win in a fight but I'll do whatever it takes to win it even if it means stabbing an enemy at the back.

Just don't mess with me.

Hardly. Whom I decide to be friend with or who is my enemy is my personal decision and my choice. He wants to be mean with me, so he will be my enemy, what do you want Randy to do? "No, you must be nice to everyone?" I don't think we are Grade 1 here.

Yet, when you talk about "stabbing an enemy at the back", "taking down his e-mail address", including implied threats of damaging someone else's reputation in real life, this sounds...well...people will judge for themselves.

I have no idea what their dispute with you or vice versa is about, I just find having to read vocabulary like yours I just quoted more than unpleasant on a message board that should be about helping each other out with frequent travel issues.

I agree with you. It seems this is getting a bit out of hand. But Internet is as serious as real life. Those were just pre-cautionary steps taken if that person wants to cause trouble any further. A threat remains a threat, it doesn't mean actions will be taken. Granted you dont' know the history of what leads up to this but let's just taking those defensive steps are necessary in this case or it may escalate further.

Thank you kindly for the reminder though, I hope this matter will end here and now but the ball is not in my court.
