I've seen 2 threads in the past days be closed in FT Community, I don't want to start a discussion on why they were closed but WOULD appreciate a small not from the moderator to be added to the post explaining WHY it was closed, not only for the "old" members but also as a help to new members. One thread went on for 33 posts, even had a thank you note from Randy for helping someone in the community and then all of a sudden got locked, no explantion, just locked...

ScottC .... a valid point really. The thread you refer to was I guess more correctly OMNI under normal circumstances I would have guessed?

(There actually is I feel a valid spot on FT for a "Questions and Answers" Forum -- much like "Suggestions" or "Technical Issues" are here. HTML is pretty tricky to master, and ScottC did make a good attempt in outlining the nuances of it which also got locked down, and may be the other thread to which he refers? If a bunch of basic "how to" threads like that done by those with time to help newbies etc were in ONE place it would be of great use IMO.)

However as Randy took time to assist the poster and thank others for doing so on the linked thread above, well that makes it OK to remain on Community (or anywhere else) in my book! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/thumbsup.gif

It may well have been that moderator squeakr had missed Randy's post up the top of thread thanking others for assisting? "Why is this in Community? just curious..." - might possibly be answered: "Because Randy was quite happy with it being here". http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

The piece that perplexes me more was that this referenced thread was locked by squeakr at 9.15pm. Now that is rather curious as squeakr is NOT one of the 4 currently listed Moderators of the Community Forum .... well unless I missed an announcement she is not. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

AFAIK Moderators only have access to their own specific Forums?

Just 2 minutes earlier she had locked 2 others threads in UA which caused much discussion and were later unlocked. (Thank you!) Might have been a "lockathon" 5 mintues? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif
