Nineteen-seventy-two-DO

This is a DO for anyone who was born in 1972 or is friends with anyone on this forum who was born in 1972.

Of course, I'm friends with almost everyone here so that would mean a virtually open invitation.

Guests of honor will be the Nineteen-Seventy-Two babies...

... is this getting exclusive enough? Or does me allowing all my friends to come make it non-exclusive?

Inquiring minds want to know.

whyyzman May 2, 2003 2:44 pm

Hmmm.. it could be even more exclusive if you added a month requirement.

I didn't think of that.

Great idea.

Maybe I should require an advance application submitted with two 5x7 glossy photos. That way I can decide how the DO photos will look before I pick who gets to come.

You were born in an election year, when Nixon as President ran for the Presidency.

I was also born in an election year when Nixon ran for the Presidency, though he was only Vice President when I was born.

Does that count for half-credit?

KathyWdrf May 2, 2003 7:28 pm

And those of us who have one-half the numbers.... can we attend one-half the events? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Kathy

whyyzman May 2, 2003 7:40 pm

I am lucky I get to go to 3/4 of the events (as long as the 1/4 I give up is not alcohol, I am happy).

obscure2k May 2, 2003 7:55 pm

My first trip to Venice was in 1972. I conceived a child in 1972. ..not suggesting that the 2 events were necessarily related. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Punki May 2, 2003 8:01 pm

Can I come twice?

You'll probably be bent over a toilet bowl for the remaining 1/4 anyway so I'd say you can come!

Well you might try www.welookgood.com.

(These threads are all so funny that my sides are hurting and now I can't sleep so I think I have to stop being a smart-aleck now and try to restore my GoodKarma. LONG LIVE FLYERTALK!)

I graduated from college in 1972 surely that should count for something. Can I come for the educational part of it?

OK, I'll continue this thought. I was born in an election year when Nixon ran for Vice President -- and won!

If we are talking the fiscal year 1972 & not the calender year 1972.

MrPaul0722 May 3, 2003 2:18 pm

I should have been born in 1972, but my parents were not cooperative. Or, am I turning 72 ?? Not sure about anything anymore. Oh, yeah, now I have it....
oooops, lost it.

auh2o May 3, 2003 6:42 pm

Bourne May 5, 2003 12:57 pm

Ah! Finally a 1972 DO!

Though I barely managed it. Another 29 Days and I would have been toast.

TravelManKen May 5, 2003 6:16 pm

Well here is my shot at qualifying:

- My wife was born in 1972

- I was born in a California Gubernatorial election year, the year Ronald Reagan was re-elected and he is a republican just like Nixon was.

- I visited the Nixon and Reagan libraries this past weekend and they both had a lot of stuff that talked about 1972

- And if none of those work, possibly I can get two years of credit via affirmative action to correct past injustices (like scheduling and laziness) that prevented me from attending previous FT "DO's".

No, that's not going to work, either. A fiscal year ending any time in CY 1973 would be designated FY 1973, not 1972.

Well, I think that the definitive answer to this (any one remember the "Match Game"? ... they always called it the 'definitive answer') is that the 1972 STATUS year ended February 28 (was it 29?), 1972. I mean, c'mon folks! Let's stay on miles here!

Joe slaps his forhead as he realizes that his "Match Game" reference gave him away to being over 30 and thus eliminated him from that oh, so desirable DO for the young-un's. D*mn.D*mn.D*mn.
