Ask the Experts Forum or link?

Randy,

You wrote in 'Randy, why are you silent about DL?' http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum97/HTML/000329.html

...Again, I work this stuff every day of my life, and I think you are vastly overrating the average intelligence of members of these programs. Here's a sample of questions I'm answering just this morning via email from people visiting WebFlyer:
1) Where can I get a credit card that earns me miles?
2) How come I can't add all my miles together to get a free ticket?
3) How do I sign up to earn a free ticket?
4) Randy, how many times must I fly to earn a free ticket?
5) I need to fly to Charleston, how can i get a free ticket for that?
I agree with you that many of the FT Evangelists here forget that the general public does not fully understand their FF programs or sometimes even the concept of miles & rewards. In addition to trvel veterans who just 'don't get it', there are always people new to traveling who have not had the opportunity to fully digest the many neuances of programs for which they are members -- or even that they should become FF program members. I have dozens of anecdotes to back this up.

Have you considered an Ask the Experts forum? Or perhaps a link in WebFlyer for questions where volunteers can help with answers?

I would volunteer to help people with questions like those mentioned above. I'm sure there other altruistic FT regulars as well.

Your thoughts?

I thought that similar questions are posted in FT, although not in a special forum. The Northwest forum had a question from someone who was asking about the mileage expiration policy, to which I and several others responded.

I still feel that such questions belong in FT, but not in an FT chat where the execs are responding to a limited number of questions. This is simply my opinion, and I say this respecting Randy's opinion and detailed reply on the other thread referenced above.

PG, your opinion in 'Randy, why are you silent about DL?' is well noted. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum97/HTML/000329.html

Randy, the offer is a way for you to offload those simple questions that people like PG are complaining end up in chats and you get in your e-mail box.

ontheroad,
I would have to agree with PG on this one. Most full time FT'ers do not have a problem answering the questions from newcomers on the proper boards. However when we have a live chat with an important guest, perhaps Randy should make a statement asking that these type of questions be deferred and directed to the regular FT boards.
