"unnerstandin frum detergint stanpoints"? arturo got to kleen thet won up a littl bit.
|
Yes, that was what I actually said in the previous posts .. links with a short resume is fine with them. It is a little "taster" or "teaser" to potentially attract that all important beast - revenue earning click-thru traffic!
I have a 7am news ticker on every of the 50 pages on my website .. lots of people tell me they ALWAYS read the headlines on that, and often click onto pieces that interest them. Costs me nix, makes 7am.com some bucks, and I get happy clients as a result! So, are we are all agreed, the current system of posting news items is OK with everyone? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif |
No, we are all not in agreement.
I believe that the news should be "In the News" because I for one do not want to go to every forum to find it and some do not want to go to forums on *ff flyer programs* and find it. And thank you for asking if there was consensus first. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif |
I have to agree with magic111. As I said before, not only is this the proper place to put them, but it makes it so much easier for people like me to find them, which is probably why it was designated as such the forum to begin with.
If people are truly interested, then they will read In The News to get to the information that doc is passing along. Of course, there is some overlap, but here is how I see it: News posts about FF programs, specifically (offers, changes, etc.), belong in the individual airline forums. News posts about an airline policy, new routes, plane orders, load factors, etc., belong in In The News. While any sort of guidelines shouldn't preclude posting an occasional news item in an individual airline program forum, posting the majority there doesn't make sense. After all, some Continental OnePass threads might be appropriate in the Northwest forum, but they all most certainly wouldn't be. That's why we have the different forums. Those are my ideas. doc, maybe you can help me better understand your view here. Is there some reason why you tend to post most of the news items in forums other than In The News and just a few there? |
As I indicated previously, I've posted where I thought best, as indicated to me by the majority of FT'ers as I understand it! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif Lately, however, I'm seemingly lacking the energy to do so! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif Tired, you know! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif
BTW - FWIW, if you are interested, here's an intersting website: http://www.eff.org/ [This message has been edited by doc (edited 07-19-2000).] |
About 1/2 of Doc's stuff comes from airwise.com. http://news.airwise.com/index.html will gladly e-mail a daily update to anyone who requests it.
Maybe we should elminate the middleman here, save Doc lots of precious time and just sign up for the service ourselves. ------------------ Robert Johnson danville 1K |
Robert- Actually, if you'll permit me, you are quite incorrect! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif It seems that you may NOT actually read my posts! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif
FWIW, about one post each day (5-10%) of mine on average typically is found in airwise, as any quick review of these posts will easily reveal! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif As any "astute" observer will note, the "airwise.com" in the link is pretty evident, as is the fact that this info is typically somewhat dated as well. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/eek.gif The info posted by me is usually pretty darn recent, as has been previously noted, and it is NOT what you'll have necessarily gotten in your email that day! Maybe the next day, though! For example, today, I got this post from airwise: http://news.airwise.com/stories/2000/07/964009602.html if you noted: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum15/HTML/000433.html Perhaps you have often read some material in Airwise and note that you have actually seen it elsewhere before, such as on FT? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif Again, I could care less about this, and can make good use of the extra time as you suggest! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif Thanks for looking out for my time and best interests! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif [This message has been edited by doc (edited 07-19-2000).] |
One more commercial email a day coming in?? No thanks! I'm delighted to read the applicable posts to me in the United forum and elsewhere they are posted. Saves time, and I appreciate someone has taken the trouble otherwise I am the "middle man" then!
Perhaps this thread should be accompanied by the music and words of "Big Yellow Taxi" by Joni Mitchell. Be grateful folks for what we have. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif |
I think some of you need a nap! Read what you want, skip what you don't and move on. Otherwise form your own board and place all the restrictions you want. What I like about this board is the diversity of personalties and opinions. My world is replete with homogenous, politically correct, pseudo-considerate opinions. I personally find the postings here consistently funny, sad, pathetic, and informative. Leave it be.
That being said, I would agree that posts of a nature considered virtually univerally offensive (language, sexual, etc.) should be either reprimanded by FT mgmt to cease and desist or removed in a preemtive manner by FT mgmt, at their discretion. Just one more diverse opinon. |
