Misuse of Identities, Take Two

Here we go again!

I have let the Webmasters at Webflyer know of this, but it has come to my attention again that some inmature and idiotic morans have been misusing my identity again on the LIVE CHAT! IT happened Tuesday night and I thank the few Flyertalkers who had the heart to tell me.

This has been discussed before but it bears repeating...

CUT IT OUT AND STOP PLAYING AROUND WITH MY NAME AND MY IDENTITY!!! IT'S NOT FUNNY ANYMORE AND I WOULD NEVER, EVER DO THAT TO ANYONE OVER HERE!!

Most of you may think it's a big laugh going on a live board and playing around with someone's name -- especially when the person's not there to defend himself/herself.

But I"m not laughing. And I don't like being humiliated at the expense of a joke.

The solution is passwords and other private tools. I can't wait for that.

Couldn't agree more Catman. These persons IP addresses should be logged somewhere and they should be banned from FT.

CHAT SHOULD BE SHUTDOWN UNTIL SECURE ENTRY IS SOLVED.

we have to type our password to write or reply a post, why not the same procedure for the chat? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/confused.gif

why would anyone use other peoples name to chat? what is the point? they can use any names they want, and nobody would know who they r.... kinda stupid, isnt it?

just FYI, i never go into the chat room, so if u see my name there, it is not me, and please do let me know, thanks!

Rudi May 18, 2000 1:37 am

my personal decision: I (RudiŠ) will no longer go to the chatroom until this problem is solved.

Until then please note that any 'Rudi' in the chatroom will not be the RudiŠ

PASSWORDS...

...PLEASE!!!!

shadow May 18, 2000 9:19 am

Rudi, I agree with you. I decided 2 weeks ago to wait until the site required a sign-in before going back. Shame we must relent to the 'idiot faction' http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

Larrude May 18, 2000 10:29 am

I too want to see a password system. It isn't funny at all to usurp someone's identity!

ChrisMoss7 May 18, 2000 11:46 am

Add my name to the petition.

CM

SCMM May 18, 2000 12:49 pm

me too!!!

Baze May 18, 2000 1:12 pm

Me too. Please protect my identity with password requirements for the live chat.

airbus320 May 18, 2000 1:15 pm

Access by password makes me accountable to the group.

PerrySSoCal May 18, 2000 1:18 pm

Add me to the list of people who won't chat without a way of guaranteeing the identity of the other people.

Jim_B May 18, 2000 2:12 pm

Me too! (this is the first and may be the only time in history in which I do a "me too" post...)

And any Jim_B on the chat is not me, too.

jaguar99 May 18, 2000 2:37 pm

I'm in!

Catman May 18, 2000 2:50 pm

Hey Everybody! Let's start a Conga line for password and identity protection!!

I think we got a good one here!

honu May 18, 2000 3:54 pm

Well, I'm not very talkative on this forum anyway, and I haven't visited the live chat yet, but it looks like I'm not gonna. If there ever was or is a honu, it's not me. I second the ideas expressed here.

magic111 May 18, 2000 6:33 pm

Me too - Password conga

opus17 May 18, 2000 9:29 pm

Add my name to the list of people who add their names to lists of people.

JAWS_II May 18, 2000 11:20 pm

Add JAWs to the list. I've never been to the chat board and will not go until security is in place.

belle3388 May 18, 2000 11:42 pm

dunno about the others, but anyone should be able to notice immediately if that is the real arturo or not... no one but the true arturo speaks like that! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

I agree - until the Live chat is secure, I respectfully bow out and will not be participating in this feature.

geo1004 May 19, 2000 7:53 am

Passwords please...

(no more geo1004 in livechat as well)

Randy Petersen May 19, 2000 8:31 am

I just returned from some travel this week and am pleased that several members of the tech staff here have been monitoring your concerns and have actually been working on a solution. They presented me yesterday with their ideas and we have launched on them. I am lead to believe it won't be too long before we have a fix on this. My only regrets are that in the future, you won't be able to casually enter the live chat, you'll have to register your password. It won't be as easy, but at least you'll know who you are because the regsitration feeds back into the FT database. Hold on, we're coming......besides, it's no fun to talk to myself......

Jon Toner May 19, 2000 10:40 am

I disagree. Talking to yourself is a great way to assure you get an empty seat next to you. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Arguing with yourself is even better.

The best thing to do with trollers is to ignore them. The more you let them know they're getting under your skin the more they'll return. After being ignored a period of time such kids will get bored and go onto to another childish game.

BostonBoy May 20, 2000 1:39 pm

I'm adding my electronic signature to this, Randy.
