Hotels.com expiration

I know stamps expire after a year of inactivity, but what about free nights earned? If I maintain activity every year, does the earned free night stick around forever, or does it expire at some point? Has anyone ever had multiple free nights in their account?

From what I understand, the free night expires 12 months from the date of issue. This was extended during the pandemic but I think they are now back to the usual policy.

Just to update, according to hotels.com customer service, free nights never expire if you maintain an activity each year, under the current policy. We'll see if it changes under the just-announced OneKey program.
