Any experiences with Booking.com price match?
Hi all,
I recently made a booking with booking.com for a hotel stay in Manila, Philippines for around 75 USD a night. However I then found the same deal (same room, dates, 2 adults, no cancellation, no meals etc) on another website for 60 USD a night.
I clicked on the 'found the same room somewhere else for cheaper' link on my booking confirmation and filled out the details a long with the link for the deal. This was a few days ago however I have heard nothing.
Was wondering if anyone here has ever tested Booking.com on their price match guarantee and what you're experiences were?
If I do not hear anything by Friday I will phone up and make a fuss.
Thanks,
FC

You can give them a call, this usually speeds things up.
As regards to their price match, once I had a case with them - booked a hotel on Booking.com and then a cheaper rate appeared on Agoda (which is part of Priceline as well), so I sent them a request -- they rejected it because the hotel name was slightly different on Agoda and the requirement is that hotel names must match exactly. After spending a couple of days trying to explain them that that's the same hotel and all the other things match (i.e. address, phone, pics, etc.) without any success, I just cancelled the reservation and booked with Agoda (as it was with free cancellation anyway).

I have used it once (a couple of years ago) and it worked. I can't remember how long it took to get a reply but surely you need to be more patient if it was only a few days ago. I would say 1-2 weeks.

My experience with booking.com is different
My experience is different. I provided evidence to booking.com that another website offered the same room on the same day for 10 euros less. My room was prepaid, that means I already paid booking com in advance, which then pays the hotel. Booking.com confirmed that I qualify for the price match guarantee if I can produce an invoice from the hotel - knowing that many hotels dont issue an invoice if they are already paid by booking.com.
My view is that here the burden of proof of payment is with booking.com as I already paid them. Its just 10 euros, not the end of the world for me, but it destroys the brand reputation for me when a promise is made and then the company tries to wiggle its way out of responsibilities they themselves established.
