help getting itinerary without purchasing ticket

i apologize if this is discussed previously but, a search showed nothing! Could anyone point me to a resource whereby i can create an iron showing flights and hotels, or even just flights without first purchasing the ticket? The purpose is to provide a means for advance travel expenses. Much obliged for any suggestions!

I'm not sure what you mean by "iron" Maybe spell-checker got you? Itinerary?

Anyway, if I understand your question, something like www.kayak.com would be easy to get prices for flights and hotels.

Normally an airline itinerary = reservation (also sometimes called PNR) doesn't show prices. If you want to document the price, do a dummy booking on the airline website. However, prices and availability change frequently, so even if you still qualify for the fare, your actual ticket that's purchased could cost significantly more.

some airlines offer (3-7 day) hold/fare-lock for a fee

(UNited, wizzair)

a proper travel agency can put tickets on hold for some time (locking the itinerary and price)- they may have a surcharge (or be willing to waive it given enough business)
