Expedia Vacation Package- Using flights only

If I go on Delta and book a round trip to Paris for March it's $1,200.

If I go on Expedia and book the same flights with 2 nights in a cheap hostel it's $674. Any risks of not showing up at the hostel? We won't be staying there.

The flight is for a friend and mileage accumulation is not a big concern, price is!

Thanks!

I've done this several times with no issues. They will give you a voucher for the hostel but you don't have to use it.

It works just fine to no-show the hotel (or car rental) portion of a roundtrip air+ travel package. I've done this a lot to save money on airfare over many years. It also works well to save money on business/first class airfare.

With some travel agencies selling package deals, you can even put the hotel in the name of someone else other than the person/persons flying on the hotel+air package; but that name selection has generally been done at the time of booking the package.

Via Expedia:

Do you get the DL miles?

And is the fare class such that you get to make seat selection when you book?
