It will show how long you have to cancel for free on the booking page (and in the confirmation email). I've never had a problem with them, and all refunds have been processed correctly.

Its usually by 10pm EST or CST the next day. You can try to cancel your flight and see the refund amount before confirming.

Since this topic is specific to Orbitz, the thread has been moved to the dedicated Online Travel Booking forum for further discussion.

Thanks.

Thats what I used to see too, but within the past 24 hours, Iíve noted it to work differently than usual.

Here is a very recent example:

On the booking page it said free cancellation with 24 hours. Upon the booking being completed and ticketed, the ticketed itinerary showed that I had a free cancel until 11:59p PST on the same day as when I made the booking. It didnít make sense to me, as that would mean I had less than 24 hours to cancel and get a full refund. When I went to cancel the next day (and well within the 24 hours from making the booking), the site showed free cancel until 11:59p PST of the day of booking. That too didnít make sense to me. So I cancelled online anyway and the site said I would get a full refund. This was for a ďuse it or lose itĒ ticketed fare whose fare rules didnít provide for any cancellations or changes.
