No different. Orbitz/Expedia almost always add more conditions rather than less than when booking with an airline directly, and may add their own fees/charges for change/cancellation over what the airline charges.

If you booked by credit card, it may include some form of insurance.

This thread relates to Expedia. Please keep it on topic. If someone wants to start a new thread about Orbitz, please do so.

OP: You feel that you should not have been charged the $7 fee. Before proceeding with law suits etc. try asking for your $7 back.

Your best bet is to contact the airline directly

Travelocity - Same - Grrrr

Same happened to me the other day with Travelocity. Purchased two (2) Business Class seats to Europe (UA outbound; LX return). $19.98 booking fee. Called Travelocity and asked if they charge booking fees. Agent responded, "No." Please explain the $19.98 fee. "Oh, that's a booking fee since you used two separate airlines." Thought, you don't charge booking fees. Travelocity <silence>.
Disputing with AMEX.
Not a happy customer.

Did Travelocity disclose the booking fee BEFORE you purchased? Or was it hidden?

If it was disclosed, why did you book with them?

It was hidden.

Tried to price it out on UA and Swiss. UA was close to 50% ++; Swiss didn't have the outbound UA codeshare (had the return). Travelocity was accurately pricing the routing. It's the point of honesty.....

That's strange. They're charging me $19.98 -- no booking fee authorization.

Sounds like $9.99 per ticket.

Strange that they did not disclose it as it was on my example.

Sorry, just reread your post. Long weekend.....

Emailed Travelocity and received the 'automated' response. Let's see if they live up to their promise of a 48 hour 'promised' response time. 27 hours and counting.
